Alison's passion for music, especially the violin, has been with her since childhood. She began violin lessons at age 5, initially following the Suzuki method and later pursuing music studies through A-Levels and university, where she earned her degree in 2005. Alongside the violin, Alison also achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in Violin and Grade 5 in piano.
Alison's teaching approach is heavily influenced by the Suzuki method, emphasizing learning by ear before reading sheet music. This approach allows students to build a strong connection with their instrument and produce beautiful sounds before diving into music notation, similar to how people learn to speak before reading and writing.
As students progress, Alison encourages them to join local orchestras, providing valuable experience in playing with others and enhancing their music-reading skills. Orchestras also offer a social aspect, fostering friendships among music enthusiasts. The excitement of performing in concerts is a rewarding part of the musical journey. For Alison, music is not just a passion but an integral part of her life, from early memories of plucking violin strings to her role as a violin teacher today.
