Way Taekwondo, established in January 2014 and affiliated with British Taekwondo, is led by Chief Instructor Mr. Ista Gurung. He began his Taekwondo journey in 1995 in Nepal and achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1998. Serving in the British Army's 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles since 2001, Ista continued to advance in Taekwondo, earning his 2nd Dan in 2005 and 3rd Dan in 2008. He later received his 4th and 5th Dan Black Belts from British Taekwondo.

All our instructors are DBS checked, fully insured with British Taekwondo public liability coverage, and qualified as safeguarding officers.

Throughout his Taekwondo career, Ista has competed at various levels, from County to World Championships, achieving numerous Championship Medals in disciplines such as Sparring, Poomsae, and Weapons. He was recognized as the 2012 Sports Man of the Year in the British Army and retired in 2013. Ista's dedication to Taekwondo includes teaching at venues in the UK, Nepal, Brunei, and Germany since 1998, sharing his passion for the sport and expertise in various Tae Kwon Do Seminars.
